I have owned a Firestick for quite a while now and love the ease of usage and the additional connectivity that comes along with it.

While I was traveling a few weeks ago, I lost my Fire Stick Remote and was pretty bummed by the fact that I might have to get an entirely new one.

However, on doing some extensive research, I found some rather creative and flexible options available for replacing my lost Fire Stick remote.

To pair the replacement Fire Stick remote without the old remote, you need to pair the new remote and remove the older remote from the device listing.

You can do this either by using the paired TV remote or by using the Fire Stick App.

In cases where you want to use the FireStick with the replacement remote but do not have any way to access the settings that help you add a controller, you can use the Amazon Fire TV Remote App to pair the new replacement remote.

To add the new remote using the app, open the app, select the ‘Controllers and Bluetooth Devices’ option.

In the menu that follows, select ‘Amazon Fire TV Remotes’ and continue by selecting the ‘Add New Remote’ Option.

Now select the remote you want to pair, and you should be ready for your next binge-watch session.

In case you have lost your remote and want a quick replacement, Amazon sells the stock remote that came with your Fire Stick.

Third-Party Remote

You can add multiple third-party devices to use with the Fire Stick. Not just to control but also for games and other such applications.

The Inteset IReTV Remote with the help of a few accessories lets the Fire Stick receive IR signals for control.

This setup includes the remote and turns controlling your Fire Stick into just like how you would control your TV

The Fire Stick supports most game controllers like the Xbox Series X|S controller, or really any controller that uses Bluetooth to connect.

To pair them, follow these steps:

  1. From the Fire TV menu, select Settings .
  2. Select Controllers and Bluetooth Devices .
  3. Select Game Controllers .
  4. Choose Add a new game controller .
  5. Put your controller into pairing mode.
  6. Once your Fire TV Stick finds your controller, it will show its name on the screen. Confirm pairing using your remote.

You can pair up to seven remotes to one FireStick, and these remotes can be third-party as well.

If you want to use your TV remote to pair the new replacement remote, you can do so just as easily as you do with your Fire Stick remote.

First, restart the Fire Stick and hold down the HOME button while it boots up.

Then use your TV remote paired with the Firestick to navigate through ‘Settings’ to ‘Controllers and Bluetooth Devices’ to remove the old remote from the device listing.

You can unpair the remote with the Fire Stick App as well.

Final Thoughts on Pairing Remotes

If you think setting up the Fire Stick App takes too much time, there is a third-party app you can use called CetusPlay on your smartphone to control a Fire Stick.

To set it up, install the app from the Play Store or the App Store, and follow the instructions it gives you.

With the app, you can avoid all these pairing procedures and get right to control your TV.

There is no real cause for concern if you lost your Fire Stick remote as I did. You can easily find alternatives if you know where to look.

Now that you know where to look, it’s up to you to decide what you are going to get.
