Ways to find your debit card number

If you already have a debit card, you can find your debit card number on the front side of your card. However, if you own a virtual debit card or have misplaced your debit card, you can search for its number through various methods - online and offline - as mentioned below.

  • Welcome kit: When you open a bank account, the bank sends you details related to your bank account and the linked debit card through a welcome kit. This kit contains the details of your debit card and the procedure to activate it.
  • Bank mini statement: Not all banks show the debit card number on the mini statement. However, you can find the debit card number on the account statements generated through ATMs and digital kiosks.
  • Net banking: If you have access to net banking through your bank account, you can use your log-in credentials to check your debit card account number. You also can freeze, limit, and activate your debit card.
  • Bank customer support: Using the bank’s customer support, you can retrieve your bank account details, including your debit card number. You need to contact your respective bank and provide your account details and personal contact numbers for account verification. After verification over the call, you will receive your debit card number through SMS or e-mail.

Banks ensure your privacy and ensure that your transactions remain secure. A debit card contains a card number and a CVV (Card Verification Value) number as unique identifiers for processing payments. The CVV number is confidential, just like your debit card PIN. You must keep your debit card numbers secure to avoid unauthorized transactions.
