whenever I check my event viewer I see this event id error 1517 --Userenv/1517. Sure many people see this in xp event viewer Windows saved user X registry while an application or service was still using the registry during log off. The memory used by the user's registry has not been freed. The registry will be unloaded when it is no longer in use. This is often caused by services running as a user account, try configuring the services to run in either the LocalService or NetworkService account. I downloaded a program called UPHCLEAN.EXE a user profile hive cleanup from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en. This removed the windows event error 1517 and fixed the problem. Has anyone used this program and whats your opinion on this program. Is this error really a problem and it it necessary to download this program if I have one user id which is administrater and not using roaming profiles. Uphcleane.exe is now a running process in task manager so is it using up my resources. Why is this not part of xp originally Edited January 22, 2006 by martym
