On Wednesday, BetMGM Sportsbook premiered its new commercial campaign for “IT’S ON” across various social media platforms.

BetMGM 'It's ON' Campaign Features Jamie Foxx, Athletes

The “IT’S ON” campaign features a host of athletes, actors, and BetMGM ambassadors within an “episodic series” that will make a nationally televised debut on Sept. 8 during Thursday Night Football. 

In the first episode, Jamie Foxx roams a suite he has in the Bellagio, asking Kevin Garnett, Wayne Gretzky, Jalen Rose, Barry Sander, and Vanessa Hudgens for betting tips and advice. 

BetMGM 'It's ON' Campaign to be Entertaining

The series was created by 72andSunny New York and directed by Peter Berg, known for his Executive Producer roles in both Entourage and Ballers.

“Entertainment is at the core of BetMGM, and we want this campaign to keep viewers on the edge of their seats in a way that’s unexpected from the sports betting and gaming industry,” Raymond Doyle, VP of Brand, BetMGM, said in a news release.

Over the next few months, BetMGM says that viewers will find a variety of skits, including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Barry Sanders playing pickleball at an estate in Malibu
  • Jalen Rose and his barber
  • Wayne Gretzky joining Connor McDavid for an on-ice practice session

“We really wanted to show what makes sports betting so entertaining, and we looked to prestige ensemble TV for inspiration. ‘IT’S ON’ is about tapping into your competitive side and being part of sports betting culture. It’s something you can talk about with friends and engage with in a more meaningful way,” said Peter Hughes, the Creative Director of 72andSunny.

You’ll be able to find the campaign “across broadcast, OOH, digital and social channels” and also see the various personalities in the segments promoting across their social media accounts. 

The new spots are set to release to align with the sports happening at that time.

Sports betting and iGaming operator, BetMGM premiered its new commercial campaign on a variety of social media platforms. "IT'S ON" features a star-studded cast of actors and athletes, all BetMGM ambassadors, within an episodic series. 

The campaign is scheduled to make its national television debut Thursday, September 8, during Thursday Night Football, the first game of the 2022 NFL season.

In the initial spot, Jamie Foxx personifies the entertainment brand of BetMGM as he roams his Bellagio suite seeking sports betting tips from Kevin Garnett, Wayne Gretzky, Jalen Rose, Barry Sanders and BetMGM's newest brand ambassador, Vanessa Hudgens.

New ads from "IT'S ON" will be released in the coming months, bringing viewers into the epic worlds of BetMGM's all-star list of brand ambassadors.

Fans will find Barry Sanders on a palatial Malibu estate playing pickleball; another spot takes viewers on the TV set with basketball star Jalen Rose and his barber; and the series also will give hockey fans the opportunity to watch NHL legend Wayne Gretzky join Connor McDavid's on-ice practice session.

Each spot raises the stakes between competitive friends tapping into the social nature of BetMGM, blending the experiences of sports betting and entertainment.

BetMGM's "IT'S ON" campaign will appear across broadcast, OOH, digital and social channels. Additionally, the roster of talent will use their personal social channels to promote the films incorporating their unique voices into the sports betting conversation in real time. New spots will continue to be released throughout the year to coincide with season-openers and playoffs for the NBA and NHL, as well as NCAA tournaments.

Actor Jamie Foxx stars with a cast of sports icons in the first of a series of new TV commercials from BetMGM. The first ad for the betting and iGaming operator launches along with Amazon’s Thursday Night Football on Sept. 8.

In it, Foxx, a brand ambassador for BetMGM since 2020, is seen roaming his Bellagio hotel suite trying to crowdsource betting tips from his retired sports-star friends.

These friends include former pro basketballers Kevin Garnett and Jalen Rose, hockey great Wayne Gretzky, former Detroit Lions running back Barry Sanders, and former Seattle Seahawks running back and recent DUI suspect Marshawn Lynch, all of whom are BetMGM brand ambassadors. The commercial also stars actress Vanessa Hudgens, the latest BetMGM brand ambassador.

Foxx’s famous friends all refuse to oblige, displaying various degrees of annoyance with the Oscar- winner.

Over the next year, new commercials will roll out from the campaign, called “It’s On,” to coincide with season-openers, the NBA and NHL playoffs, and the NCAA tournaments. These commercials will depict Jalem Rose with his barber on a TV set, Gretzky practicing with current hockey star Connor McDavid, and Sanders playing pickleball at his palatial Malibu estate.
