Destiny 2 Season of Plunder had a release date of Tuesday, 23rd August, and will end on Tuesday, 6th December at the usual weekly reset times.

Don't worry if you don't complete the Sails of the Shipstealer seasonal quest by then - you have until the start of Year 6 / Lightfall arriving to do so.

An overview of activities and rewards in Season of Plunder.

There are, however, other things to complete before the next season arrives...

Festival of the Lost 2022 has arrived! With it comes the arrival of the Mechabre. Elsewhere in Season of Plunder we have the Sails of the Shipstealer quest, Treasure Coordinates and Map Fragments, Cryptic Quatrains and weapons such as the Quicksilver Storm and Taipan 4FR. Meanwhile, there's the arrival of King's Fall and King's Fall challenges, plus weapons including Doom of Chelchis and Touch of Malice. For The Witch Queen, learn how to get Exotics including Dead Messenger and Parasite.

What should you do before Destiny 2 Season 18 ends?

As with every season, there's a checklist of things to do before the season concludes. This includes:

  • Claiming any seasonal titles you have earned.
  • Watch the ending of the seasonal storyline. Usually, this doesn't require you to complete the season-long quest - for Season 18, this is Sails of the Shipstealer - and though this will be playable until Lightfall and Year 6 begins, this ending will expire when Season 19 arrives.
The Season of the Haunted finale cutscene.
  • Reaching Legend rank in any matchmade activities - Crucible, Gambit or Strikes - and redeeming their vendor specific rewards.
  • Redeeming any remaining season pass rewards across all classes.
  • Having some completed Bounties ready, as well as maxing out relevant materials and Glimmer, to give you a head start for the start of next season.

With until December to get everything you need, there should hopefully be plenty of time. Enjoy your space buccaneering in the meantime!

As for the story of Season 18, Bungie is keeping its card pretty close to the chest. We don’t know much about the new season’s story except a brief synopsis that hinted something terrible would happen in the new season. You can read the full description below:

It has arrived. As we prepare for fate to unfold, the people of the Last City look to the stars–to us–for hope, and while we have triumphed in the face of impossible odds before, this time feels different. But if there is to be no escape, our story will be one of courage, one of the legends.

On the other hand, Bungie shared some more information about Arc 3.0. The studio explained this subclass is designed to offer maximum mobility and power. Players can buff their skills with the amplified effect to hit enemies harder and faster.
