What shoes does miles morales wear in the game

Miles Morales' costume for the upcoming Spider-Man: Miles Morales video game will look a bit different from the one the character donned in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Nice Kicks, a website dedicated to sneaker culture and community, spotted a key difference in Miles' footwear by comparing photos from both projects. In Spider-Verse, the hero is wearing Air Jordans, specifically what appears to be a pair of Chicago 1s. However, in the new game, he has switched brands, representing adidas instead.

Many twitter users were upset with the change and view the Air Jordans as a superior shoe. However, user JDSKicks came up with his own theory about what happened to Miles' Chicago 1 pair.

"Miles is smart. Chicago 1s prices are crazy r[ight] n[ow] so he obviously cashed in and sold his pair on Grailed as '8/10 condition, worn maybe five times,'" he wrote, referring to the online sneaker marketplace.

Miles Morales was created by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Sara Pichelli in 2011. His first appearance was in Ultimate Fallout #4, which came out in August of that year. He has similar powers to Peter Parker but can also shoot bursts of electrical energy out of his hands. Since his comics debut, he has risen in popularity, eventually making his way to the big screen. Spider-Verse grossed $375.5 million on a $90 million budget and won Best Animated Feature at the 91st Academy Awards and Best Animated Feature Film at the 76th Golden Globe Awards. A sequel is currently in development and will feature Japanese Spider-Man from the 1970s Japanese series.

There are also rumors swirling that Morales will make his Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut in the untitled Spider-Man 3 starring Tom Holland. A deleted scene from 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming featured Miles' uncle Aaron (Donald Glover) saying his name.

Directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman and written by Phil Lord and Rothman, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse stars Shameik Moore, Jake Johnson, Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali, Brian Tyree Henry, Lily Tomlin, Luna Lauren Velez, John Mulaney, Kimiko Glenn, Nicolas Cage and Liev Schreiber

Developed by Insomniac Games and PlayStation Studios, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be available on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on Nov. 12.

Look, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales seems awesome and I'm excited to play it later this week when my PS5 shows up on my doorstep. That being said, there's a major elephant in the room that we need to discuss and it comes in regards to Miles' shoewear.

Insomniac Games released a new post over on the PlayStation Blog this morning that talks all about the shoes that Miles will be wearing with certain costumes in the game, and it's not the same pair that we've grown accustomed to seeing him don within the past few years. Yes, rather than wearing his iconic set of Air Jordan 1 shoes, Miles has now drastically traded down and will be wearing some red and black Adidas Superstars. Insomniac said that it wanted to honor the sneaker's 50th anniversary in Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and even is creating a real pair of the shoes that will go up for sale later this month on November 19.

Look, if you're not into sneaker culture, I'm sure you're asking yourself, "What's the big deal?" And honestly, this isn't the travesty that I'm making it out to be. In fact, I really like Superstars and I think the pair that Miles is rocking in-game are actually pretty sleek. I may even look to cop the high-top iteration later this month because I'm bad with my money.

That being said, it just feels so wrong to see Miles wearing anything other than his iconic pair of Air Jordan 1's that he has in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. For better or worse, that movie cemented the fact Miles is someone who would wear AJ1's on a regular basis. Sneaker culture is very much about letting your shoes be reflective of your own personality and your taste. For Miles to now go from being an AJ1 guy to wearing Adidas is pretty much the sneaker equivalent of going from eating a steak dinner to snacking on a piece of bologna.

Obviously, there are a lot of factors at play with why the iconic AJ1 silhouette isn't in Miles Morales. Perhaps Insomniac couldn't get the license, maybe they preferred working with Adidas, and more so than anything, the ensuing real-world shoe deal likely ended up playing a major reason in why this came about. Either way, it's still just an odd thing to see at face value. Then again, this is a different interpretation of Miles' character. Clearly, it's just one who has a worse taste in sneakers.

All the same, I'm excited to play through Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales later this week when it releases on November 12 for PS4 and PS5.

For those who haven't noticed, Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, has a thing for Nike sneakers.

However, Miles' original costume in Into The Spider-Verse departs from the comics in many ways. While the color palette largely remains the same, Miles' Spider-Man costume is a one-piece spandex suit with a mask (much like Peter Parker's). Miles doesn't wear a hoodie, shoes, or gym shorts.

For the entire length of the movie, Miles is wearing a pair of Air Jordan 1 Retro Highs in red, black, and white which is the same shoe that Nike created for Michael Jordan in the 80s.
