Wells fargo home projects credit card credit score requirements

Recently, my A/C went out (not completly-but it will soon) and I have been getting estimates for a new system. The quotes are between 14k-16k. I have a couple of options. One being the Home Project Visa Card with 0% interest for 15 Months and the other being Home Equity Loan. I prefer the Visa Card. However, my concern is that it is going to show as revolving credit and will put my debt to credit ratio in a very uncomfortable place.

I also have a car that is about 12 years old and it's on it's last wheel. I'm not sure how long it will last and will probably be needing a new car soon. I'm hoping it will last me until February of next year, as this is when my late payments (30 Days Late November 2007-60 Days Late in December 2007& January2008) on my last car loan will fall off. Those are the only degrogitory marks on my credit report (6Years5Months ago). So, I will probably need a good credit score and flawless payment history to get a good loan(i'm assuming). I also have about $13,000 in student loans which is somehow more than the original loan amount (I think this happened when they were in forebearance as i was in school full time.

Okay, so the reason for my post is do any of you have any idea on whether or not I would be approved for 14k-16k with my current credit scores and history? I don't know a great deal about how credit works. I've recently been making myself aware of what I have credit wise.

I am terrified of applying for credit and being denied because I don't want a hit on my credit and not have an account to go along with it. I applied for solar back in January of this year (2014) and was denied (only inquiry within the last 12 mo.-There are 11 other inquiries and 3 of those will fall off by sep). Mind you my uitilazation was crazy high and my credit score was 604. So, I've paid off all of my credit cards to get my utilization as low as possible (0%) and raised my scores to what I've listed above. Just to give you an idea of my credit portfolio (hmmm, first time ever using those words together).

Everywhere I needed it I was able to get what I needed. New air system and siding. Makes life easier.

My HVAC company did it all.

Needed to make some adjustments to my previous equipment same company. Their service manager came out and set everything up at 9% interest. The balance approved is greater than what the services cost...and can be used with other service providers/contractors...however...each one will most likely have a higher rate of interest. This account came with a 600. visa cash card...only HELLO ...at 29.9% interest...!!!! I will NEVER pay anyone 30 cents on my dollar to use their dollar. The cash card is a NO for me. But if this other card works out and I can find a good interest rate...I am looking for new windows next.'

WF "service" leaves me asking WtF

Credit Karma Member

The first TWO times I applied for this card, the application status showed as Denied and then as Pending. I called the customer service number and both times they told me the denial was due to the number of unused credit cards on my report (which doesn't match my *excellent* credit rating at all). They said they could provide no other details and suggested I contact the credit bureaus - I did and they have no clue what the people at WF could be referring to in my credit report. I finally went to my local WF branch where the Personal Banker was able to get me approved instantly on a personal (unsecured) loan for $25k. (And he also had no idea what the WF Home Projects card people were referring to in my credit report as a reason for denial.) When comes to Wells Fargo, the staff at local branches are okay (maybe 3 of 5 stars), but their phone customer service is consistently bad: 1/2-star at best and sometimes (like this time) they should get negative-stars. I rarely have needed to call customer service (fortunately!) for places I have banked at. But when I do, I expect them to answer my direct questions regarding my business and transactions with them, AND to escalate to someone with more authority as needed. The Wells Fargo Home Projects customer service people did neither and claimed to be fully incapable. That's not priceless; that's worthless.

Don't expect much customer service

Credit Karma Member

I just applied for this card via my contracted hvac company's website. Was approved for $6500. My total bill was $6900.The following day I called customer service for a credit increase to cover the full invoice. The representative, whom appeared to be not paying attention, not caring and/or eating told me that they woul have to repull my credit report to review for an increase. She reasked me for all my personal information and then stated okay, you've been approved for $6700. This one phone call is good enough for me to know that I will pay off this account as soon as possible and close it. I received my letter and card in the mail within a week. Of the $6700 CL; $804 is reserved for thecredit card.

Good product for a new homeowner

Credit Karma Member

Purchased windows and doors with it with a reasonable rate. Paid off the balance 4 1/2 yr of a 5 yr deal. To save the "monthly payment". I currently use it for a recurring payment to keep the account alive. Currently a great addition to my available overall "credit". Never Ever miss a payment or be late with that provider. Phone calls will be almost immediate. Happened to me, because I paid "too early" once, and ended up showing twice on one statement. Resolved over the phone, but you feel like a deliquent.

We had gotten this credit card to buy new windows for our home, thats why the limit on it is so high. We were given 18 months to pay this account off. But within three months we have paid this account in full. The only thing is it's not showing this on our credit rating. It still shows the the high bal. Im disappointed in that because we knew that a high bal. would make our overrall rating low. I wish they would update this better. Over rating of this card I would have to give it a 5 because of poor up-dating of info.
