What is the Tuition Guarantee?

The Cincinnati Tuition Guarantee is a cohort-based program that sets tuition, mandatory fees, and room and board at a consistent rate for up to four or five years depending on the length of a student's academic program. Degree-seeking first-year and transfer students enrolling at our Uptown or regional campuses are eligible.

Investing in a college education is one of the most impactful decisions you can make for future success. And we believe every student and family deserves to know exactly what that investment will be.

Being transparent and consistent about costs means that students can fully focus on their Cincinnati experience – both in the classroom and beyond.

How Fees Are Determined

  • Full-Time Students — If you are enrolled for 12 or more semester credit hours, you are considered a full-time student and your fees are charged on the basis of a full-time semester fee charge. Full-time tuition normally covers 12 to 18 credit hours per semester. Should you register for more than 18 hours you will be charged the full-time rate plus the part-time credit hour rate for every credit hour over 18.
  • Part-Time Students — If you are taking fewer than 12 hours per semester you will be charged by the credit hour. Credit hour fees are based upon your residence classification and the credit hour fee charge set for the academic college or unit offering the course you are taking.
  • Ohio Residence — Fees are determined on the basis of whether you are a resident of the State of Ohio or you live outside the state. Lower fees are assessed to Ohio residents because the state provides support to the university for them. The additional charge to out-of-state students is called the out-of-state surcharge.
  • Late Registration Fees — A $25 Late Registration Fees will be charged for each class that is added after the last day to drop for that session. The dates when Late Registration Fees will be assessed are listed in the Dates and Deadlines Calendar for each semester.
  • Fee Differential — UCBA students taking full-time classes may take 6 credit hours in UC Uptown classes and pay the UCB full-time flat rate. If they take 7 or more credit hours in UC Uptown classes, they will be charged a tuition differential.
