West Virginia University Institute of Technology is a STEM-focused university and a campus of WVU in southern West Virginia. WVU Tech offers bachelor’s degrees in 34 scientific and technological majors. In addition to classroom facilities, the WVU Tech campus hosts numerous hands-on laboratories, such specialized labs biodiesel, concrete and animal behavior. What is the difference between WVU and WVU Tech?WVU Tech's community college component was separated from WVU Tech in 2004 and WVU Tech is now part of West Virginia University. The school became a regional campus of West Virginia University in 1996, leading to its present name. It later became an integrated division of WVU in July 2007.

What happened to West Virginia Tech?In 1952, baccalaureate degrees in engineering were added. In 1996, the college was named West Virginia University Institute of Technology, when it became a regional campus of West Virginia University. Subsequently, in 2006, WVU Tech became a full division of West Virginia University.
