Rheem classic series professional tankless water heater

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great - Excellent Quality

I had a forty gallon water heater go bad at my business. We only have two sinks used for washing hands only, so a big heater was really a huge waste of energy. I had first ordered a Bosch US7-2R, 7.2KW. It quit after only a few days. This Rheem 6KW seems to work just a tad bit slower in warming the water, but I like it much better. I love the display that tells you the temperature of the water leaving the heater and the fact it has an on /off switch. The quality of the cabinet is also much nicer and more ascetically pleasing. The Rheem also came with an electrical pigtail, the Bosch did not. This unit also seems to have much heavier water connection fittings than the Bosch. Overall this is a nice unit for one or two sinks in close proximity.

This is my 2nd time purchasing one of these. I originally installed one of these heaters for a small hand wash sink. It did the job, but was lack luster in performance. I tried one of these a 2nd time, for a different customer for a single sink. The flow rate has to be turned down so low the sink isn't usable. If you turn the flow rate up the heater isn't able to heat the water fast enough so you're left with luke warm just over room temperature water. I ended up removing the unit and going with a larger one. Even the first customer I mentioned I later found out they were unhappy with the heater, but they are keeping it because it is just a shop sink. So 2 for 2 with very poor performance, one of these I had to uninstall and eat the loss. I'll probably never buy of recommend again. They just aren't powerful enough to get enough jot water at a high enough flow rate to make a sink usable. If you are ok with cutting the flow rate down to a trickle then this heater will heat the water burning hot..... but as soon as you increase the flow rate no more hot water.

This is an excellent concept, but one has to open the package and install to really know if it’s going to work for you. Oops, It didn’t heat enough so we returned. When you purchase from Big Frog Supply, they keep a big hunk of your refund funds because you opened and tried the unit? It was called Restocking Fee.... somehow that feels unfair to me. So purchasers, be aware that you will not get a full refund. Good luck! I’m so sorry it didn’t work well for us.

Heater is easy to install and will work on a 40 amp 240 breaker , must use the provided flow restriction faucet nozzle to ensure water will get warm.
Will only produce . 5 gpm water

3 stars. I have one positive comment and four negative comments.

Positive - it saved me a bundle on electricity. I live in a rural area and only have electricity, no gas. I used this to replace a conventional water heater with a large tank. This thing paid for itself in about six weeks.
Negative - It takes several seconds for the water temperature to ramp up. It does get plenty hot after a while but we waste water (also a concern in a rural area).
Negative - The LED panel doesn't light up unless water is flowing through it. This led to confusion when I first installed it. I pressed the (unneeded) on button and nothing happened. A call to Rheem service cleared it up. They also commented that they are revising the manual to state this.
Negative - The cold inlet fitting leaks, not much, about a drop every 20 seconds. Still annoying.

So I have installed and turned on with no issues, Took a Long time to heat to 110 degrees. I can not figure any way to get to 130 degrees. Called Tech support and they said I had to leave it on for several hours to reach that temperature ~ Well 120 is the highest. I felt They should had offered to exchange the unit and I would send this one back?? Well that is where my story ends.

There is no reason to look anywhere other than Rheem. The build quality on their devices is off the charts. They are factory tested three times before shipping, including testing with water. I bought two sizes of these for two different buildings and they are made with high quality materials and made to be serviced easily. Just don't go anywhere else. Don't cheap out. Buy Rheem.

Attempted to use in a hair wash sink in a salon. Advertised as capable of handling two sinks. Would not supply enough hot water for one unless flow rate was turned down to a trickle. Took it out and replaced it with a tank type.
