hi everyone, I have a 2006 Lincoln town car executive L. The oil reset on the dash continues to stay on. I followed all the proper protocol to reset it did not work. I purchased a new drivers information display switch and installed it and still does not work. The select button continues to malfunction. Does anyone know what to do next thank you.
What do you mean the select button continues to malfunction? It doesn't toggle thru the choices? I had the problem years ago .I forgot what the fix is. Sorry.

No matter what function I’m trying to use the select button for it doesn’t work. Thanks anyway ______________________________
So it doesn't move off of whatever it's on??Or you get to where you want it and the reset button doesn't work? Sounds like bad wiring back there maybe. Just a tip, i found a whole bunch of helpful videos on YOUTUBE.
Yes I can get to the oil change screen on the dash but when you press select to get to the next part it doesn’t work.
oh ok. no separate reset button then? I'D SAY LOOK ON YOUTUBE...My memory is a little foggy on this as it's been a few years at least...lol.
My '03 is different and is up in the overhead console (which is okay for oil reset but a TERRIBLE place for the compass). All I can say is that it was tricky to do it right and get it to reset. I always have to revisit the manual, but I think it involves holding down two buttons at once for a few seconds. ______________________________

I always have to revisit the manual, but I think it involves holding down two buttons at once for a few seconds. My '04 has the overhead console and I have to have the oil life indicator showing. Then I must press "reset", while still holding it down simultaneously press the "mode" button and keep holding BOTH down for up to 10 seconds. When the console says "reset for new oil life" i then let go of the two buttons, press "reset" on the overhead one more time, and then it resets. If you don't have strong hands,
you may have a hard time. IIRC 2006-up are different, they have the oil life indicator in the instrument cluster. Exactly the same on my 04. I have to hold both buttons down for what seems like an eternity before it finally displays "reset?".
Every time I go to reset my oil life I swear the thing is not working as well. Takes me forever to get the darn thing reset, LOL. ______________________________

Press and hold RESET for 2 seconds and release to reset the oil life to 100%.. Again, press and hold the RESET control for 3 seconds..
