2001 ford f150 power window problems

I dont know if it helps, but I have a 94 f150 xlt. Power windows on both sides not working..no money now to fix but I've learned to live with it..In the south it gets hot. I can hear the motor working..but is sounds as if the plastic gear is stripped on both sides. If I start the window down manually with my hand the motor will send it on down but will do nothing to help it back up. I have to hold the window from both sides like you would carry a mattress and lift it all the way to the top. And the window will usually stay in place..unless I'm hitting bumps..I plan on going to the salvage yard and getting all the "inards" to the doors this summer, till then I thank God for the side windows that blow in..

I have a 2004 F150 Lariat super crew and had a window issue which all 5 windows would not work. I removed all door panels and sent 12VDC to each motor and they all worked. Removed the drivers side kick panel and was able to disconnect the wiring harness that went to the drivers side door. Its a short wiring harness with a bunch of wires covered in black accordion type rubber between the inside of the door and the body which was a bugger to remove and reinstall but that happens. Turns out there was a black ground wire which is the most brittle wire of the bunch and it broke over time when opening and closing the door. Pull back the accordion type rubber closest to the body and unwrap the black tape and look for broken wires. I did get it spliced and all is good but its a bit tricky since the wire was broken very close to the connector. Try a repair and worst case get a new harness if affordable or take your chances with a replacement from an auto wrecker.

I had a 2009 F-150 that I was losing power lock ability from the driver's side but still had window control.

As johnjupin stated I had the same issue, I had multiple wires that had broken inside the "accordion rubber". I put extension pieces of wire in for each and that solved my issue.

Hope this helps.

2005 F-150. Just replaced Window relocator on passenger side and got the window working fine. Then later on stopped working from that switch and now only works intermittently from master switch driver side. Had both rear windows working and now only one is working. All this in one day. Drivers side auto window not working for last month. It appears from what I am reading that this sould be switch problems??? Any recommendations on how to attack this problem with the intermittment failures all the way around?

Some of the most common problems with the power windows in the 2001 Ford F-150 is due to either a faulty door switch, the motor is failed or regulator issues. The window switch is the easiest to replace of them all. You'll need to pry up on the front of the door panel armrest then push it forward. On the bottom side of the armrest pull the tab and unplug the electrical connector to the switch. Using a pick tool or plastic pry bar, work around the backside of the switch to remove it from the trim. If the motor failed or there is an issue with the regulator the door panel will need to be taken off, it's held on by three screws and some panel clips. There are two screws on the bottom edge of the door panel and the third screw is behind the door latch trim.

The 2001 ford f-150 windows have been known to fail to not go up or down and emit a clicking noise when the button is pushed.

Where is the power window fuse on a 2001 Ford F150?

The 2001 F150 has two fuse boxes. One is located inside the cab, to the bottom left of the steering wheel. The second is located inside the engine bay, in the top right corner (drivers side). The interior fuse box predominantly controls interior electrics like the stereo, lights, power windows, etc.

What would cause my power windows not to work?

One of the most common reason power windows can malfunction is because the window regulator and cable come apart from one another – the cable can break or come off the pulley. The power window system may sound like its working but if the cable is not winding up correctly, you window will be stuck.

What causes a power window to work intermittently?

Window malfunctions are typically caused by a faulty window regulator (also called a window track), or a broken motor, cable pulley or window switch. Sometimes it can be a combination of those things.
