Is your GoPro randomly dropping its Wi-Fi connection? Are you having connectivity issues with your device struggling to find and connect to your GoPro camera? Are you connecting with a Samsung device? Are you perhaps using an older phone that only supports 2.4GHz? If you’ve answered yes to any of the above questions then this article will have the solution for you. If your camera and device are having difficulty connecting and maintaining a connection, make sure your mobile device supports 5 GHz Wi-Fi. If not, try switching your camera to 2.4GHz. Since the release of the GoPro HERO6 and newer cameras, the default broadcast Wi-Fi band is set to 5GHz. This will greatly affect how stable your connection is between the device and camera. So if your mobile device is an older model which only supports 2.4GHz, this can occasionally result in connectivity issues. According to GoPro, even your geographic region can result in connectivity issues. More about that later. Let’s see what solutions are available and how quickly this issue can be resolved. Solution #2 – Clear the Connection History on Android Phones (SAMSUNG)Android phones and particularly SAMSUNG phones stores the Wi-Fi connection details even after you remove it from the connection list. This can result in connectivity issues later down the line, since all old passwords are still stored on the device. A workaround is to firstly, reset the Wi-Fi settings on your camera as previously instructed. Next, you want to navigate to the phones Wi-Fi settings and confirm you have deleted the GoPro Wi-Fi connection. Once you are sure the Wi-Fi connection is removed, click on the “advanced” tab at the top of your Wi-Fi connection. Scroll to “manage networks” and you’ll find a list of “saved” networks. Make sure to remove your GoPro’s connection details from there too. Once all has been removed and deleted, go back to the GoPro app and do a fresh setup like it’s your first time. What GoPro Users Sayhave had a continuous problem (from the day I got the present) with the Hero 5 session’s Wifi/bluetooth connection. After the installing of the App on the phone and the first paring the WiFi gets lost and the search for connection takes lots of time before the message appears: “Something Went Wrong. Make sure Wifi and Bluetooth are on to continue.” https://community.gopro.com/t5/Cameras/Paired-Wifi-connection-gets-lost/td-p/349799#:~:text=Re%3A%20Paired%20Wifi%20connection%20gets%20lost,-%5B%20New%20%5D&text=Typically%2C%20the%20connection%20issue%20between,resetting%20the%20Wi%2DFi%20settings. I can’t find a setting to change this. I’m running Android 6.0.1 on a Kyocera duraforce pro phone. https://community.gopro.com/t5/Cameras/Phone-disconnects-from-GoPro-wifi/m-p/214727#/M62014 ResourcesTroubleshooting GoPro App Connectivity Issues https://community.gopro.com/t5/en/GoPro-Quik-Pair-Your-Camera/ta-p/394285 https://community.gopro.com/t5/en/Reset-Wi-Fi-Name-and-Password/ta-p/394276 ConclusionAlways ensure that your phone is updated to its latest OS and that you have the latest version of GoPro App on your phone.
