Fortnite gamer David "TheGrefg" Cánovas Martínez (Spain) has smashed a monumental Twitch streaming record.

The most concurrent viewers for a Twitch stream was achieved by Martínez on 11 January 2021, with a huge 2,468,668 peak concurrent viewers. 

He's broken this record as well as the record for the most concurrent viewers for a Twitch stream by an individual.

This record has now been officially confirmed, breaking the individual record previously held by Ninja (aka Richard Tyler Blevins, USA) with 667,000 concurrent viewers. 

David "TheGrefg" Cánovas Martínez has a massive 7 million followers on his Twitch channel, where he regularly streams himself playing Fortnite, as well as League of Legends and Valorant.  

The stream that broke this massive Twitch record was him revealing his Icon series Fortnite skin, which sports his red and black hair, as well as red arm cuffs and a bare chest decorated with gold, including his signature TheGrefg logo.   

The skin will set you back 1,500 V-Bucks, or 1,800 V-Bucks for the TheGrefg Bundle, which includes "Balls of Power", a Back Bling reactive cosmetic, and the "Staff of Control", a harvesting tool.

Having your own Icon series Fortnite skin is a privilege only available to the platform's top creators and influencers, with only 8, including Martínez, in the series. 

Previous record holder Blevins also has one of the coveted spots in the Icon series, with a skin that was available for limited periods in January and May 2020.

His skin sports his signature blue hair and headband as well as a blue face covering as a nod to his screen name, Ninja.

Spanish Twitch streamer Ibai Llanos Garatea has set a new record for concurrent viewership, with a peak of 3.3m viewers.

The record was set during his La Velada Del Año II boxing event at the weekend that featured multiple content creators in the ring.

The previous record was set by TheGrefg at 2.5m concurrent viewers.

What's more, Ibai is now in the top five most followed streamers on Twitch.

The event brought over 400k new followers, bringing his total followers to over 11m (Ninja remains at the top with 18m).

The record proves the popularity of Spanish-speaking streamers on the platform. The event was also the second of its kind from Ibai - his first La Velada Del Año event peaked at 1.5m concurrent viewers.

Ibai rose to fame on Twitch by commentating on esports. He's also interviewed a number of top Spanish footballers on his channel including Gerard Piqué, Andrés Iniesta, Ronaldinho, Sergio Agüero and Sergio Ramos.
