Wieck (elbow) underwent Tommy John surgery Wednesday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Wieck has been on the injured list since mid-March due to a left elbow strain and will ultimately be sidelined for the rest of this season and most or all of the 2023 campaign. The procedure marks the second time he's undergone Tommy John surgery, as he also needed the surgery in 2011, per Montemurro. It's certainly a discouraging development for the left-hander, who turns 31 in October.

Rodriguez (elbow) has resumed throwing bullpens, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Rodriguez landed on the injured list in mid-April due to a right elbow strain and doesn't yet have a timetable to return. Whether the right-hander joins the major-league roster when fully healthy likely depends on whether the Cubs deal some relievers at the trade deadline in early August.

Miley (shoulder) threw a 32-pitch bullpen session Friday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Miley resumed throwing in late June and has now progressed to mound work. However, he'll need some time to build back up prior to rejoining the Cubs' rotation. Since the 35-year-old has been on the injured list since June 11, he'll likely require a rehab assignment before returning from the injured list. As a result, it seems unlikely that he'll return to the majors until sometime in mid-August at the earliest.

Alzolay (lat) has been throwing bullpen sessions at the extended spring training facility in Arizona, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Alzolay has been on the injured list since late March due to a right lat strain that he sustained during spring training. While it's encouraging that the right-hander has resumed mound work, he doesn't yet have a timetable to return to game action. Alzolay will presumably require several rehab appearances before he's cleared to rejoin the Cubs.
