Usa today top 75 nba players of all time

One of the latest lists that have come out is USA Today’s really terrible take on the NBA75 and boy, it’s controversial.

Before we commentate, discuss, complain and exclaim (with exclamation points), we’ll let you be the judge by looking at the full list first. We don’t want to influence your opinion, but if you think Giannis Antetokounmpo is already the 24th best player in the history of the NBA, you should be fully allowing us to convince you otherwise. In any case here’s the…

We can always ensure that the top ten of these best-players-of-all-time lists will include the 8-10 players. With a BetVictor sign up offer you can bet that the best players will be some mix of Jordan, Magic, Bird, Russell, LeBron, Wilt, Kareem with a spinkling of Duncan, Oscar, Kobe, and Shaq. USA Today thankfully didn’t manage to mess that up.

Usa today top 75 nba players of all time

This list isn’t just a difference of opinion, this is very clearly a lack of understanding of what truly makes for a legendary player and I would go as far as to say that they don’t understand what it takes to win an NBA championship. This isn’t just controversial to be controversial, this is plain stupid at worst and recency bias at it’s best.

As this reddit user suggested, this entire USA Today “panel” needs to be publicly flogged for not only including Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving, but making them the 49th and 57th best players in the game. Again, not that they’re not good players, but they simply haven’t played long enough to justify being on this list, much less being positioned against players that have established full careers. And as much as I am not a Carmelo Anthony fan, he should in no way be belwo Kyrie Irving on any mock NBA 75 list.

I could quibble about Isiah Thomas being placed below Scottie Pippen, Allen Iverson, John Stockton, and Steve Nash, but at least those are somewhat arguable.

Listen we dig Nikola Jokic’s game, but three years of elite NBA does not make him the 73rd best player of all time. That’s not arguable. What’s also not arguable is James Worthy so high up on this list. In reality, Big Game James will be lucky to be #75 when it comes to listing out the all-time legends.

You’re getting the sense that I really could go on, but I’m not giving USA Today the satisfaction. The several ridiculous examples we’ve already provided should say more than enough. We don’t want to commit any more words to such a trash list.
