incredible: I feel like I have been intellectually nourished since I started this program. I have gotten wonderful funding opportunities that have allowed me to travel and am currently receiving excellent career search preparation. However, the department's logistical relationship with larger bureaucratic bodies on campus is fraught, confusing, and stressful to navigate. This is not the fault of anyone in the department, but is still something that can affect the mental health of students forced
to deal with it. I believe that empathy training -- especially for the benefit of interactions with neurodivergent, chronically ill, or nontraditional students -- would behoove the department enormously.
