Subaru crosstrek 2022 oil filter

I recently purchased a 2022 Crosstrek limited and am ready for my first oil change. Does anyone know if the 2022 model takes the same filter and oil amount as the 2021 model - or maybe what filter I can order that will fit? It’s seems that the 2022 model year is not in the system of some retailers yet.

or just go to Wal-Mart and pick up a Fram Ultra.....it has superior filtering efficiency compared to the OEM ones and pretty much any other one out there. Rated at 99% at 20 micron, and tests out at just that or even better.

True but Fram makes more than 1 model of filter. He was referencing the Ultra version.

There has not been one report on here over the years of an engine failure due to using the blue filter. Considering how sketchy it can be to buy a black filter which could be counterfeit, I'm sticking with my USA blue filter from a reputable dealer.

In the GM 3800 world... You don't touch a Fram filter. They junk. That's not to say other versions are, but generally if the company makes one that is I wouldn't trust them across the board. Fram is like Armor All. And this would only apply to orange fram products. They have guidelines when they're making filters for others.

The ole' OCOD from the late 90's. I too, wouldn't touch one years ago. In fact I was running Wix filters solely until I discovered a link on BITOG of where a bunch of filters were tested and the Ultra Guard came out on top for filtering efficiency and flow...by a fair amount.

True … but I’m not aware of any reports on here that legitimately tie an engine failure to any specific filter, at all.

I’m definitely not saying that all filters are created equal, but a filter choice isn’t likely to be a life or death decision for your car … or even one that markedly impacts engine wear.

Well, to be fair, one could run an empty can with no filter media at all and the car would probably do just fine...........for awhile. What I'm getting at is, no one knows if a end cap failed or a ADBV failed or a bypass valve failed, unless you take apart the filter after removing it. I can't see many people doing that on this site. . I prefer to buy higher quality, better built filters for that reason. Simply to decrease any chance of having an internal failure which one would never know about.

or a filter which filters very well AND flows very well. If it flows well, you won't have to worry about bypass pressure as it will never build up enough pressure to bypass.

Wix makes one of the best filters with micron ratings the bypass pressure is really only needed on startup in cold environments have had issues with fram filters in the past year with leaks at my dealer i work at we use the blue filters personally i use the black ones my dealer somehow got me some but the wrx short black filters work on the X's no issue

I used to think the same thing too. In fact I thought the XP version filtered better than the standard Wix version, but it doesn't, the standard version filters better. The XP was the worst in filtering efficiency in this test. It sacrifices efficiency for flow.

Just bought 18 Titaniums on ebay for under $8 a piece. Now that I run the Baxter adapter, I use the same XG/FS10575 filter that my GF's Acadia uses, so that's nice.

every time i remove the black filters at the dealer there is no oil coming out the filter on them common on thr blue ones but not the black
