St marys hospital and medical center program internal medicine residency

The Internal Medicine Residency Program at St. Mary's General Hospital & Saint Clare’s Denville Hospital

Fully Accredited by Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education

Our philosophy is to treat residents more as academics rather than as employees. We strive to provide an atmosphere that is conducive for learning while helping you to reach all the goals and objectives required to train as a physician.

In return, we expect dedication, hard work, honesty, and maintenance of the highest standards. Our aim is to provide you with the best education that will help you to complete your internal medicine training and to help you become a caring, ethical physician who will uphold the high standards of the profession.

Training

Training at the Consortium of St. Mary’s General and Saint Clare’s Denville Hospital will give you the opportunity to have an extensive experience in urban and suburban medicine. Our program will provide a comprehensive clinical experience for interns, and 2nd and 3rd year residents needed for a successful career in internal medicine. We encourage a collaborative academic environment which emphasizes clinical skills, scholarly research, and intellectual pursuit.

Mentorship

Every intern receives a program advisor and mentor to serve as his/her advocate. This faculty member will assist in your learning and development. The mentorship program nurtures both personal and professional growth. Its goal is to strike the ideal balance between clinical autonomy and structural learning for each resident.

Curriculum

The internal medicine curriculum provides general medical care and subspecialty experience through lectures, conferences, and a mix of experience with primary and tertiary patients. This residency provides multiple didactic conferences to fulfill the recommendations of the ACGME. Our curriculum responds to the dynamic healthcare needs of patients and society, in order to teach the most up-to-date methods in healthcare delivery.

St marys hospital and medical center program internal medicine residency
Welcome!

St. Mary Medical Center is a 371-bed hospital that has served generations of families in Bucks County and the surrounding greater Philadelphia region. St. Mary offers advanced non-invasive treatments, adult and pediatric emergency services, inpatient medical and rehabilitation facilities, along with supportive health and wellness programs for our patients. We also belong to Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, which includes Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, Pa., Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa., and Saint Francis Hospital in Wilmington, Del. This partnership allows us to share resources as well as opportunities for education.

St. Mary Medical Center has been a recipient of the U.S. News and World Report’s Best Hospitals recognition for three consecutive years. We are accredited by the American Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) for Internal Medicine, as well as the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) for our Pharmacy Residency.

Despite having built relatively new residency programs, the faculty in both our Internal Medicine and Pharmacy residencies are dedicated to providing excellent clinical mentorship and training to future residents in a supportive environment. Under the guidance of our knowledgeable faculty, medical students and residents will learn the latest in medical treatments, train on the most sophisticated medical technology, and participate in a wide array of academic experiences.

As part of one of the largest Catholic Health system in the country, we also take our mission very seriously. We are committed to the Core Values of Reverence, Commitment to Those who are Poor, Justice, Stewardship and Integrity. So if you are looking for a residency that is committed to a long legacy of health and healing, and you are someone who is excited by the chance to have an impact in the early development and improvement of our programs, I would invite you to join us.

If you are a medical student who value a supportive learning environment and a family atmosphere and are interested in rotating with us, please contact Diane Loftus at to arrange your rotation.

We look forward to meeting you and having you join our St. Mary family!
