After you have purchased residential phone service through Time Warner, you can set up voicemail using either your home phone or any other phone. The process is fairly simple, but make sure to go slowly and follow directions closely. When your voicemail has been successfully activated, you can check it at any time from any telephone.

Dial *98. If you're using your landline phone, to start simply dial *98. This will prompt the phone to bring you to an automated menu that allows you to change your voicemail.[1]

Enter your PIN. From here, an automated voice will ask you to provide your four digit PIN. This will allow the system to identify your account and then provide you access to your voicemail. If this is your first time accessing your account through your phone, you may not have set up a PIN yet. Your default PIN is the last four digits of your home phone number.[2]
- If you set up your PIN, but forgot, you can dial 6-1-1 to reset your PIN.

Follow the voicemail prompts. Once you enter your pin, an automated voice will guide you through the process of setting up your voicemail. Listen closely. Usually, you can press a number to have the voice repeat information.[3]
- First, you'll be asked to set up your 4-digit PIN followed by the (#) key. Pick a PIN that you will remember, but not one others can easily figure out. For example, do not choose a PIN like "4444." However, if your cat's birthday is May 31st, the PIN 0531 may be good for you. Write this number down as you will be prompted to re-enter your PIN later.
- The system will then ask you to state your name and press the (#) key.

Record your message. The automated system will give you a chance to record your voicemail message. Your message can be a maximum of 3 minutes long.[4]
- If you use your home phone for work, keep the message brief and professional. Try something like, "You've reached the home of Rebecca Peters. I'm not in right now, so please leave a message after the tone."
- If you rarely take work calls at home, feel free to leave a fun or goofy message on your voicemail. However, keep in mind these kinds of messages can sometimes be irritating to friends and family members, especially if they run long.

Press "2" to listen to your message. Once you've recorded your message, you can press "2" to listen to it. If you're satisfied, press "1" to set this as your greeting. If you want to record a different greeting, press "3" to record again.[5]

Dial your access number. If you want to set up your voicemail away from your phone, you can do so using any cell phone or landline. To start, pick up the phone and dial your access number. Your access number should have been included in your TWC Welcome Kit.[6]
- In the event you don't have your access number handy, you can go online and find access numbers based on region. A list of access codes by region can be found on Time Warner's website.[7]

Enter your phone number. Once you've located your access number, the first thing you should type in is your phone number. An automated voice will prompt you to enter your phone number. Wait until that voice is done speaking to enter your number.[8]

Enter your PIN. Once you've entered your phone number, the automated voice will request your PIN. If you have not yet set up your PIN, use the last four digits of your phone number.[9]
- If you forgot your PIN, dial 6-1-1 to reset your PIN.[10]

Enter the last 4 digits of your phone number. Wait for a prompt from the automated voice. You will be asked for the last four digits of your phone number. Enter these numbers, even if they're the same as your previously entered PIN.[11]

Follow the voicemail system. From here, an automated voice will guide you through the process of setting up your Time Warner Voicemail. The voice will help you change your PIN and record your name. Once again, pick a PIN you can remember that others will not guess. Your own birthday may be easy for others to remember, allowing them to access your information. Therefore, the birthday of a distant cousin may be a better option.[12]

Record your greeting. From here, you can record your greeting. Greetings can be no longer than 3 minutes. If you take a lot of work calls on your home phone, make sure to record a greeting that sounds professional in nature.[13]

Press "2" to listen to your message. You can press "2" to listen to the greeting you recorded. If you're happy with it, you can set that as your greeting by pressing "1." If you want a different greeting, press "3" to re-record your greeting.

Access your voicemail through your phone. If you want to listen to voicemail using your TWC phone, the process is fairly easy. To start, pick up your TWC phone. If you hear a stuttered dial tone, this means you have a message. To listen, dial *98 and wait for your voicemail to pick up.[14]
- The voicemail will let you know how many messages you have. You can listen by pressing "1."

Listen to voicemails from another phone using your TWC phone number. If you want to listen to voicemails from a phone other than your TWC phone, you can do so. You can use your TWC phone number to listen. Pick up another phone and dial your 10 digit TWC phone number.[15]
- Wait for the voicemail greeting and then press the (*) key. You will then hear how many messages you have, and you can press "1" to listen.

Listen to voicemails from another phone with your Voicemail access number. You can also use your voicemail access number to listen to voicemails from another phone. Dial your TWC access number. If you do not know how to find your access number, remember that you can find a list of access numbers by region on Time Warner's website.
- After dialing the access number, dial your TWC phone number followed by the pound key.
- Enter your PIN followed by the pound key. Your default PIN is the last four digits of your phone number, and you can reset a forgotten PIN by dialing 6-1-1.
- Your voicemail system will inform you how many new messages you have. You can listen to messages by pressing "1."
