How to recover my contacts from google

If you've ever deleted a Gmail contact and only later realized what a big mistake you've made, you can relax as long as you made the change in the last 30 days. Regardless of how many contacts you add or delete, Gmail keeps a 30-day history of every contact in your address book. So if you accidentally delete one or more, all it takes are a few clicks to bring them back.

The process makes for a somewhat blunt tool. You can't restore specific contacts, but you can retrieve every deleted contact back to a specified date. However, unless you've recently gone on a deleting spree, it shouldn't be terribly difficult to find the contact or contacts you're looking for.

This tip requires that you log into your Gmail account using a web browser -- not the Gmail mobile app. Any browser, whether you access it from your phone or laptop, will do.

How to retrieve your deleted Gmail contacts

1. Open Google Contacts in your browser.

2. Tap or click on the Settings (gear) icon in the upper right corner.

3. Tap or click Undo changes.

4. Choose the timeframe you'd like to restore from, anywhere from 10 minutes to 30 days ago, then tap or click Undo.

5. Gmail will confirm by saying, "Your contacts list will be restored back to how it was on [date you chose]. It may take some time for these changes to show up on your device."

Still have a little remorse? Here are six ways to deal with regret, frustration and spam in your Gmail inbox. While you're tinkering, ratchet up the security on your Gmail account in just four steps. Finally, here are our favorite hidden Gmail features you need to know.

You just downloaded the newest, shiniest contacts management app to your smartphone, linked it to your G Suite account to sync with your Gmail Contacts, and now you’re waiting for your mobile address book to fill with everyone you’ve ever known.

Suddenly, all of your contacts are gone from Google and your phone.

This happens more than you’d think, and it is largely because too many applications make it easy to set your empty smartphone address book to overwrite your up-to-date Google Contacts list, rather than the other way around.

Fortunately, Google Contacts has built-in versioning functionality so you can “roll back” your Gmail Contacts to an earlier state, restoring any lost contacts in mere seconds. Here’s how it works:

  1. Log into your Gmail account via the web
  2. Click on the Gmail in the top left
  3. When the dropdown appears, select Contacts
  4. In the top level navigation, select More
  5. When the dropdown appears, select Restore Contacts

You’ll have the option to roll back your entire Gmail Contacts list to any saved state—which is to say, any time you altered the data in your Google Contacts—within the last 30 days. In the case of a full overwrite that deleted all your Gmail Contacts, just roll back to the save point right before you installed the destructive smartphone app.

Accidentally deleted someone's contact details from your Google account? Fortunately, you can get them back.

Your Google account acts as a one-stop solution for backing up different types of data from your Android smartphone and tablet. You can store your contacts, photos, videos, and personal files in the cloud.

One advantage of backing your data in the cloud is easy restoration if you delete some data like your contacts and documents by mistake. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to recover deleted Google contacts.

If you have accidentally deleted one or more contacts from your Google account, you can recover them in just a few clicks. We’ll use Google’s Contacts recovery feature to restore deleted contacts. Don’t worry if you don’t have the app; you can do the same via its web version.

On the Google Contacts app, follow these steps to undelete your contacts:

  1. Tap the hamburger menu on the top left.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Scroll down the settings page and select Undo changes.
  4. If you have multiple accounts on your device, you will be asked to choose an account.
  5. Tap the affected account and select the time frame.
  6. Next, tap Confirm and click OK to finish the process.

You can also do the same by using Google contact’s website.

  1. Go to contacts.google.com.
  2. Click the Settings icon (gear) at the top right.
  3. Select Undo changes.
  4. Select the time frame, which can range from 10 minutes up to 30 days.
  5. Click Undo.

Recovering deleted Google contacts from the web

After undoing the changes, Google will restore the version of your contacts from a certain date and specific time.

If you want to restore a single contact, you don’t have to go through all this trouble. Just enter the contact name at the top search bar inside the Google Contacts app and select See results in the Bin. Next, tap the contact, and select Recover.

Although Google allows you to recover deleted contacts, the feature has various limitations. First, you can’t recover contacts that have been deleted from the trash. By default, deleted contacts will stay inside the trash for 30 days. Once the period is over, they are deleted for good.

Another disadvantage of the feature is the changes are not reflected immediately. Google says it may take some time before the changes show up. Also, you might have to back up your current copy of contacts first since any additional contacts you added after the date of restoration will be lost.

The Google Contacts app provides an easy way of restoring your deleted contacts. Whether you want to recover a single contact or multiples, the app makes the whole process easy. However, you should beware of the 30-day limit, which might be an issue if you don’t recover your contacts from the trash bin after a long period.
