The Golden State Stimulus II package is sending out stimulus checks to Californians, with more than 800,000 worth $575 million being paid to eligible citizens.

Those people in California who qualify to receive a payment are set to receive up to $1,100, with a spokesperson from the California Franchise Tax Board stating that the next round of payments will be largely comprised of mailed checks.

There were 9,000 direct deposits worth just over a combined $6 million, the Sun were told, and the result of that is that roughly 794,000 paper checks worth $568 million will be sent out from a couple of days ago, on December 18, until December 31.

There have been more than eight million Golden State Stimulus II payments issued or announced in California, a spokesperson has confirmed, and these are worth more nearly $5.8 billion.

Golden State Stimulus checks

The state of California introduced the Golden State stimulus checks were offered to eligible people earlier in 2021 to taxpayers who had been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The Golden State Stimulus will provide a measure of relief to California taxpayers deeply affected by the pandemic," Betty T. Yee, California's State Controller and Franchise Tax Board chair, said in a May 2021 press release.

"This stimulus, combined with the California Earned Income Tax Credit, will provide hundreds or even thousands of dollars to many individuals and families in need."

After the current set of payments go out, the last round is scheduled to be issued between December 27 and January 11, with this applying to those with a ZIP code ending in 928-999.

These payments are set to finish at the end of 2021, but a budget surplus could see further Golden State Stimulus payments made next year, so there could be more good news on the horizon.

When Will I Get My Middle Class Tax Refund?

The California Franchise Tax Board will issue payments until the end of this year. Payments will be issued separately from your individual state tax refund via direct deposit or prepaid debit card.
