Please call our office if you have any questions. Can I use toothpaste after wisdom teeth? You should not use toothpaste for at least 3 to 4 days. The activity of brushing your teeth requires you to spit out the toothpaste. By doing this, you could cause the blood clot to come loose and cause bleeding, and the healing process will have to begin all over again.
How do I brush my back teeth after wisdom teeth removal? As soon as possible, brush your teeth gently. Brush on the tops of teeth only as you near the surgical sites with your toothbrush. Continue to brush your teeth and keep your mouth as clean as possible. A prescription-strength mouth rinse has been prescribed.
When can I brush properly after wisdom teeth removal? You can start brushing your teeth normally 72 hours after the wisdom teeth are removed. You should still avoid brushing too close to the removal area since it is still healing.
Can I skip brushing my teeth after wisdom teeth removal? You can — and should — brush your teeth after the surgery, but do so gently. Skip brushing the area of extraction until it's completely healed. You'll also need to use an antiseptic mouthwash to keep the area free of bacteria and will require a liquid and soft food diet for a couple of days.
