Home2 suites by hilton orlando international drive south reviews

Location

On a quiet side road just off the busy tourist corridor of International Drive, the hotel is still within a five or 10-minute walk of multiple shops and restaurants, including the mega shopping complex of Orlando Premium Outlets. It is barely 10 minutes’ drive from Disney and 15 from Universal and SeaWorld, and there are bus stops nearby. Having a hire car is still handy, and getting around from this location is a breeze. It is 19 miles (30 km) to Orlando Airport while the southern terminus of the ultra-convenient I-Ride Trolley is at Premium Outlets.

Style and Character

The exterior may look like a chain hotel, but the appearance ends there. Inside, an overriding sense of relaxed, contemporary stylishness makes for a pleasant – if slightly basic – introduction, but the impressive room amenities make up for the lack of a full-service restaurant or lounge. Its primary appeal is to holidaymakers looking for great value close to the main attractions, rather than all the bells and whistles of bigger resort-style properties.

Service and Facilities

Service is friendly, informal and knowledgeable about the local attractions. The hotel boasts a good-sized pool pool and a handy outdoor barbecue for guest use, plus business centre (with free printing) and Spin2 fitness room with connecting laundry facilities, which makes a quick workout easy while your clothes are drying! The relatively basic choice is offset by the smart, fresh nature of everything, and the hubbub-free sanctuary so close to the theme parks. A free shuttle service to the Disney parks is another useful perk.

Rooms

Although the décor is a touch IKEA-ish, the all-suite resort’s prime feature is the luxury of space, with bright, generously sized standard rooms and wonderfully spacious one-bedroom suites. The Serta Suite Dreams bed ensures a comfy night’s sleep and the iHome unit offers a convenient iPod/phone plug-in. All rooms have kitchens with full-sized fridge, cooking space, microwave, dishwasher, crockery and cutlery, plus flexible work space with a surplus of power points. For an extended family stay of a week or more, the suites’ size and self-catering amenities offer excellent value for money.

Food and Drink

While there is no on-site lunch or dinner restaurant, the provision of in-room kitchens and easy access to dozens of local eateries are a major feature. The complimentary breakfast, with communal ‘Inspired Table’ seating, is a notable bonus, especially with healthier items such as the artisan sandwiches and bowls (all 400 calories or less), multi-grain buckwheat waffles, oatmeal, grits and several varieties of yogurt. There is also a 24-hour grab-and-go market and hot drinks station.

There is no bar, but there are several nearby. Even better – you can buy your favourite adult beverage from the nearby supermarket and enjoy an evening around the cosy outdoor fire pit.

Value for Money

Double rooms from $103 (£80) in low season; and from $185 (£144) in high. Breakfast included. Free Wi-Fi and parking.

Access for guests with disabilities?

Highly accessible, both in rooms, which include vibrating alarms and inflatable chair-assist for baths (as well as roll-in showers with grab bars), and in all public areas.

Family-Friendly?

There are no facilities specifically for children, but the proximity to Orlando’s many attractions is the big draw.
