Days of the week the learning station

When it comes to learning the days of the week, it’s a bit tricky! There’s a lot of rote memorization, especially for young children who are still not quite ready to understand time. This comes through growth and age, and we especially see them understanding concepts like calendar time around first grade.

That’s where music comes along and makes it exciting and simple. Music just makes learning feel a lot more magical. And it sticks in their minds better too. Win-win for everyone!

These days of the week songs can jazz up your circle time, calendar time, or even transitions. There’s nothing like singing the days of the week while calling everyone over to circle time or instead of just saying the days of the week. When you need a catchy song that everyone loves, try one of these.

To make circle time even easier, we’ve made some of our favorite songs and rhymes into a handy printable, including song sticks! Check them out in our store.

How to Stream Music in the Classroom or at Home

If you want to get songs without the ads from YouTube, there are a couple of simple solutions. You can click the songs directly from this post, and it should take away most of the ads. Screen it first to make sure it works for your needs.

If you are using just audio, I have Amazon Music Unlimited which isn’t free but well worth it for me because we use it each day between the classroom and home. If you would want to download more than 10 songs a month, it’s worth its weight in gold! It’s compatible with your phone, electronic devices, Alexa, and computer. What’s great is that I can download the songs while I’m home on my phone using wifi with the Amazon Music app. Then the songs are always there on my phone, and I can play them in the classroom, the car, or anywhere else.

There is also a 2 million song music library with Amazon Prime. That’s how I started, but then I eventually switched to Amazon Music Unlimited because it has nearly every song.

Have the perfect song at your fingertips whenever you need it! Grab our free printable below of some of the best kids’ songs.

I’m Gonna Catch You – The Laurie Berkner Band

We love Laurie Berkner songs, and this one is no exception! Instead of directly teaching, she introduces the days of the week in a super catchy and fun song that just happens to include the days of the week in order. Brilliant! I don’t even mind when it gets stuck in my head.

Days of the Week Song – 7 Days of the Week – The Learning Station

Our friends at The Learning Station have a wonderful calendar song!  Each time you repeat the catchy tune you do it in a different way, such as varying the volume, clapping, and stomping. The variation really helps the kids remember the order of the days, and makes it fun!

Days of the Week — Rachel and the TreeSchoolers

If your kids are really loving the signing and are ready to take it to the next level, here’s a great Days of the Week video from Rachel of Signing Time. She moves pretty fast through the days, but I bet a lot of your kids will be able to keep up, especially after they’ve learned the days signs from the video above!

Spanish Days of the Week Songs

A sweet and simple Spanish calendar song! Along with the names of the days in Spanish, they’ll learn how to say “seven days are in a week.”

Days of the Week – Siempre Spanish

I love it when people use familiar tunes to teach a new concept – you can learn much faster when you’re not trying to learn both new words and a new tune at the same time!
