Common sense media to kill a mockingbird

I have no reason to criticize parents, nor how they raise their children; however, the mature themes presented in this novel depend on how parents have taught their children on how to respond to it. This story is very violent, yes, but historically accurate as well. Some readers may find the language offensive, but again, it just depends on the child's maturity level when reading. The book itself is only 107 pages long, but the story really resonates with the reader after completion. The way Steinbeck uses imagery and literary devices really adds to the realism of the story. Again, while some people may disagree with me, this is just a review. I guess my final thoughts would be in regard to the sexual content of the novel. The only case of such content is from Curley's wife, and a mentioned Bortella. Other than that, the book should be fine for children who can appreciate a story that has stood the test of time.

An Entertaining Read

Kurt Vonnegut masterfully weaves psychology and a great story with Slaughterhouse Five. Granted, I would only let mature teens read it, but it has a good message and is a fascinating novel.

The Best Series on Televison

The Twilight Zone is classic TV. The 30 minute shows are full of suspense and usually a potent moral lesson. I would recommend it to anyone.

This is the best superhero movie ever because it was directed by Tim Burton and starred Jack Nicholson as a very creepy Joker.

This Book Shouldn't be Banned Anywhere!

This was one of those hard books to put down. It was well written. Holden Caulfield could be a pill in some situations, but I could relate to him sometimes. I strongly protest the banning of any books unless they are pure garbage in a literary sense and use sex, drugs, and violence without proving a point. Book banners ban knowledge!

An Embarrasment to the Sci-F/Fantasyi Genre

Mr. Paolini, I regret to inform you that your book is trash. I liked Eragon, but Eldest was unreadable. I liked Eragon even though it was a rip off of Lord of the Rings (especially) and Star Wars. I think a lot of the pickier readers, people who refuse to read garbage books, agree with me that nobody cares about Eragon's brother and wanted more from the only actually original charachter (Solembum). By the way, the movie was terrible too. I want my money back! P.S. Other readers, read the Star Wars Trilogy or Redwall or Lord of the Rings. Don't waste your time on this.

It Was The Worst Thing Possible: Boring

I just couldn't get into it at all. I couldn't even get past the first few chapters. And I love to read, and I've read many classics that other people called boring and loved them, but this book just wasn't compelling for me. I don't know, maybe it's something that girls enjoy more than guys.

4 Stars? What?

This movie is 5 stars and earns it 100 times over. The best of the spaghetti westerns, it boasts great performances from Eastwood and the Tuco character. This sprawling epic also boasts great direction by Sergio Leone and great music.

Great Movie for 3 Reasons

3 things stand out: the message (revolutionary for its time), the music (one of the best scores especially in the title sequence), and the acting (Gregory Peck and several good child stars).

#27 AFI, #1 Gangster Film (My Opinion)

Bonnie & Clyde is unflinchingly graphic, considered excessively violent for its day. In the last scene the two characters are gunned down in slow motion, so know your kid if they can handle it. Don't be fooled because its unrated, it is R for the violence. But this movie is nevertheless flawless for the mature. Just a comment, I don't think this film glorifies being a gangster. Particularly towards the end, Bonnie & Clyde are unhappy and desperate. Obviously, it ultimately means crime doesn't pay.

Is To Kill a Mockingbird kid friendly?

Let's be clear: "To Kill a Mockingbird" is not a children's book. It is an adult fairy tale, that is often read by children in wildly different — and sometimes profoundly damaging — ways.

Is To Kill a Mockingbird suitable for a 12 year old?

Our consensus was that this play would be most appropriate for middle-school and above, 12+ years. The themes, sub-themes and language would either go over the heads of younger children or they would not have the life experience to process them.

At what age should a child read To Kill a Mockingbird?

Yes, this book might make readers uncomfortable but that is the point of the book. I would strongly recommend this book to young people who are somewhere between 7th, 8th and 9th grade(s) and beyond. This book makes my top 25 reading list.

Is To Kill a Mockingbird movie appropriate for 11 year old?

Best for viewers at least 12 due to strong language and mature themes.
