Briggs and stratton 3 hp horizontal shaft engine parts

2HP, 3HP, 3.5HP, 4HP and 5HP Industrial Plus, I/C and other Horizontal Crankshaft Engines

(as fitted to Cylinder Mowers, Rotorvators, Scarifiers, Cement Mixers, Generators, Bale Lifters, Scarifiers etc.)

They are side valve with the spark plug on top of the engine, set in the centre of the cylinder head cooling fins.

The fuel tank will either be at the rear with the carburettor mounted directly on it, or will be mounted to the top
of the engine above the carb level.

The pull start will be on the side with the crankshaft emerging horizontally on the opposite side.

Some Models may have an integral reduction gearbox or a secondary pto shaft on the output side

The Model, Type and Code numbers are either stamped into the metal engine cowling (on top next to the spark plug
or down one of the flat sides usually behind the air filter), or on a small aluminium plate rivited to the face of the cowling
The Model number will begin either 6,8,9,10,11 or 13.
