Air jordan 1 black and metallic gold

Once more, Jordan Brand looks to recycle a tried-and-true color scheme for its Air Jordan 1 lineage, with this kids-exclusive release of the Air Jordan 1 Mid “Black Metallic Gold” reinstating a colorway made famous by the Air Jordan 1 way back in 2013.

The recently-resurgent color scheme has been seen on everything from the Air Jordan 1 High and Air Jordan 1 Low before hitting the Legacy 312 — now it returns to its roots with the Jordan 1 Mid bringing a brand new flavor to the theme. Here, matte black leather uppers link up with metallic gold overlays and black patent leather collars complete with gold glitter flecks. It’s joined by blacks along the nylon tongue, liners, and laces, with Jumpman and Wings motifs alternating between the two colors. All of this then sits atop a classic white and black sole unit to round out the design.

While an official release date for this killer new Air Jordan 1 Mid “Black Metallic Gold” has yet to be revealed, official images of the pair do suggest that a release won’t be too far away. Kids-exclusive make-ups of the Air Jordan 1 Mid typically makes waves for their playful use of hues, prints, and patterns. This pair, however, is much more mature, opting for a simple color blocking comprised of Black and Metallic Gold.

Available in GS, PS, and TD sizes, this Air Jordan 1 Mid is not unlike its adult counterpart’s best. Familiar in its overall look, the colorway places the above-mentioned “Metallic Gold” across the Swoosh, Jumpman branding, and adjacent leather overlays. And while the tongue, mid-panel, and forefoot may opt for the norm with their blacked out materials, the collar distinguishes itself with a gold-speckled patent leather.

Celebrating the shoe that started it all, here's a look at the lineage of Michael Jordan's first signature shoe — the Air Jordan 1.

Designed by Peter Moore, the Jordan 1 originally released from 1985 to 1986. Quite a few colorways of the model were produced, as well as a few different variations. Following its initial run in the 80s, the Jordan 1 jumpstarted the retro era in 1994, following Jordan's retirement from basketball. The shoe returned again in 2001, including the introduction of a Jumpman branded mid-top. It wasn't until 2008 that Jordan Brand started re-releasing the Jordan 1 with its original high cut.

Since then, the Jordan 1 High has had a relatively consistent presence in the market, as it's been featured in the 22/1 Collezione ‘Countdown’ Pack. the Doernbecher freestyle series and commemorated Jordan's Hall of Fame induction in 2009. In recent years, the shoe has enjoyed a heightened level of popularity behind the retro of the canvas-based Air Jordan 1 KO, Nike SB collaborations and the highly anticipated return of OG "Nike Air" branding. Jordan Brand has also been packaging the Jordan 1 in a retro box-inspired by the original 1985 design.

To keep you updated, here's a look at the history of the iconic sneaker, from its first release up to its most recent.

Are the Jordan 1 black and gold?

The luxurious black and gold colour scheme first appeared on the Air Jordan I in 1985. Since then, we've seen similar retro iterations nodding to the rare 1985 colourway.

How can you tell Jordans 1 are fake?

Notice how different the threads on the stitching look between the real and fake Jordan 1. The authentic toe box has much thicker threads in the stitching compared to the fake shoe. On the fake shoe, the threads are barely visible because of the depth in which it is sewn and also because of how thin the thread is.

Why are Jordan 1s hard to find?

The Jordan 1 is and has been one of the most hyped shoes out there, with celebrities and influencers seen rocking the sneakers to this day. This definitely contributes to certain colorways selling out and being more difficult to find for retail.
