2012 jeep wrangler traction control light on

OK so I recently bought a 2013 Jeep Wrangler unlimited
sport and yesterday randomly the ABS and traction control
light came on when I had it in reverse and shifted to drive.
Thing is it only stays on for a few seconds but then goes
away and it doesn't happen every time either. The brakes
seem to be fine and everything else seems to be working
fine. So I have no idea what could be causing this.

We haven't, we do have a scanner. I will have my husband scan it when it does it again. The shop where we take our vehicles for all things 4x4, said that it could be a steering sensor that needs reset. It has a 4" lift on it, which was done by the previous owner. We did an alignment and our shop said that we will need to replace both the upper and lower bushings because they have quite a bit of play in them. I was able to speak with the previous owner (he's local to me 40 miles) )and he said he didn't have any problems with it.

Got the issue fixed, I actually had a pinion bolt that was extremely loose. Our 4x4 guys found it when they were realigning my Jeep. When they drove it the steering wheel turned hard to the left, luckily no accident. They put it on the rack and found the problem. My Jeep drives a 100 times better and all because of a loose bolt.

As the title reads my jeeps check engine and traction control light came on after hitting a pothole. Went off after a start cycle but then came back on when i hit another bump. When this happens the engine goes into limp mode and i can't rev past 2k rpm. Eventually traction light goes off but the engine light stays on but i can drive regular. All of this was on the way to dealer. Seems like a common issue with these. I drive through DC everyday so not hitting bumps is impossible.

I looked into it and read the code. Ended up being for the camshaft sensor. Not too bad I thought. I took it to the dealer since i have the warranty and let them have at it. Well today (Day 2 with no jeep) i called for a check up and they said they will need to keep it into next week.

Any idea what may be going on? Anyone experience this too? I didn't pry too much but they did say they would have to take the "intake manifold" off. I was really hoping it would be a sensor replacement and be on my way. Hopefully its not too serious.

Update (8/6/2018): They still have the jeep. I was called to come pick it up on Friday but when i arrived the tech said it wasn't done and was making noise now so they have to dismantle again. I think this time they are actually replacing the camshaft. Still seems as though they have no idea what is happening too.

Update (11/1/2018): Issue was on going since last visit. They really didn't fix anything but i just didn't have time to take it somewhere else. I finally had a chance to take it to a family run dealership that my parents use. They fixed the issue in day and i haven't had any issues for weeks. The wire for the sensor was too short and being stretched. They lengthened the wire and i was good to go.

The 2015 Jeep Wrangler might have its traction control light on, because the vehicle is actively using the traction control. This happens when the vehicle is being operated on surfaces with poor traction and friction, as seen on rainy and snowy days. The ABS light on the other hand will usually come on when there is something wrong with the braking system. The most common trigger for this is the brake fluid being low in the car. Other reasons include worn brake pads or faulty calipers. It is usually just a way for the car to tell You to check the brakes. Topping up the brake fluid should be the firSTStep in attempting to resolve this.

When the 2015 jeep wrangler traction control and abs lights come on, check if the wheel-speed sensors are covered with road grime or debris.

Did you found out what was the problem? I am having the same issue on my 2015 JKU right after I installed new brake pads.

Why is my traction control light on in my Jeep?

The traction-control light is usually a sign that your vehicle is working properly by maintaining traction on a slippery road, but it can also mean that your car has some damaged sensors or wires. Keep yourself safe on the road by taking your vehicle to a trusted auto repair shop at the first sign of trouble.

What causes the traction control system light to come on?

Many traction control systems will illuminate the warning light when the system detects a loss of traction, like in snowy or rainy weather. Typically the light is seen when the system intervenes to maintain traction.

Why is my traction control light on and won't go off?

When this warning indicator light comes on in the dashboard, this could be an indication of several issues such as faulty wheel speed sensors, a faulty steering angle sensor, a faulty rotational speed sensor or a problem with the steering rack.
