Most of the downloads on this site will be in the form of a .zip file. First you'll need to open or unzip the zip file somewhere onto your PC or device. On Windows, you can use Microsoft's built in zip tool, or you can download a zip tool from the internet. On mobile you might want to look at downloading a file manager if you don't have one available. On console you can download the pack to either a phone or your PC and follow the steps below... Installing on Windows and MobileOnce you have extracted the zip file, the simplest way to install the add-on or resource pack is to open the .mcaddon, .mcpack, .mcworld, .mctemplate file and let Minecraft install it automatically. For older packs without a zip file, just open the file you downloaded and Minecraft should load up and install it for you. If Minecraft doesn't launch when you try to run that file, you should probably ask Google for help! Installing on Console...You can no longer install packs and add-ons directly on to consoles, instead you'll need access to a Minecraft Realm and a version of Minecraft on Windows or Mobile. Follow the procedure above to install the add-on or pack to your Windows or Mobile version of Minecraft and then add the pack to a new world or a world you want to use on your console. If you want to use multiple packs, install them all and then add them all to the same world. Upload that world to your realm and then download that world from your realm on your console. Add-on ConflictsSome add-ons just won't work with other add-ons! This is normally because the conflicting add-ons require at least one of the same file. Only one of the add-ons can run in this situation which will make the conflicting add-ons seem broken. To resolve this you can try to combine the packs, which is quite difficult for beginners, or download a combination pack that contains both conflicting packs, if one is available from the downloads section.
This feature is exclusive to Java Edition. Hardcore is a Java Edition exclusive variant of Survival and one of the main game modes in Minecraft. In this mode, the world is locked to Hard difficulty and the player cannot respawn after dying. Features[]The key feature of Hardcore mode is that the player is not given the option to respawn upon death as they would in other game modes. Instead, there are two buttons on the death screen: "Spectate world" and "Title screen". "Spectate world" sets the player to Spectator mode and respawns the player at the world's spawn point, making them able to view and explore the world only in that mode. The "Title screen" button simply leads the player to the main menu screen; re-opening the world simply returns the player back to the same death screen as before. Respawn anchors do not resurrect players in Hardcore mode. In addition, Hardcore mode worlds are restricted to Hard difficulty. When creating a Hardcore mode world, the Enable Cheats and Bonus Chest world options are locked to OFF. On the world selection menu, Hardcore mode worlds display dark red text reading "Hardcore Mode!"
Hardcore mode is specific to worlds, not players; the variable determining whether the world is in Hardcore mode is saved in level.dat. Thus, the player can use /gamemode creative (if cheats are enabled) to set themselves to Creative mode. Players in Creative mode while on a Hardcore mode world still see Hardcore mode's death screen upon death. It is normally impossible to toggle Hardcore mode once the world has been created, though it is possible to use external programs such as NBTExplorer to change it by setting the hardcore tag to either 1 (hardcore) or 0 (normal). However, it is possible to enable cheats through the Open to LAN feature in the pause menu. From here, the player can, while spectating the world after death, type /gamemode survival to bring themselves back to Survival mode, being able to play again by cheating death. Multiplayer[]Hardcore mode is an option for multiplayer, and its functions are similar to those in singleplayer. All players have Hardcore mode enabled — it is impossible to have some players in Hardcore and some not. Server operators can use the /gamemode command to change the game mode of themselves or another player. History[]
