How to get rid of little man on Android phone

This morning (Jan 25, Android 12) I was prompted to activate a feature in Android Norton that had the consequence of the 'little man' appearing in the bottom right corner of the screen.

I recall information at the time saying that it can easily be deactivated by tapping the 'little man'. Not so, it doesn't do anything when tapped.

After a while I found the solution to remove it :

Settings >> Accessibility >> Installed Apps >> Norton 360 Service

I just got Bitdefender installed on my Tablet and Mobile phone. On both there is placed a little man down in the right corner. What is he supposed to do? Though he looks harmless stretching his arms out, punching him does absolutely nothing. Wonder if he is supposed to do something ?

You can see him on the lower right hand corner of your Android screen.  And you’ll find him lurking in some other Android functions as well.   We call him Mr. Accessibility.

He is Google’s icon for functions that permit magnification of content on your screen.   It is a function that comes in handy if you have near-sightedness or are struggling to read your screen in daylight.  It also is useful if you are zooming in on photos.  All-in-all, Mr. Accessibility is a useful little chap.

However, he also has created a bit of confusion for Android users.   If you inadvertently tap this icon, you’ll note an orange border is inserted on your screen.   This is Google’s invitation to press on whatever part of the screen you want to magnify.   And, if you have no interest in this function, you are a bit put-out.  So, for those put-outers, here’s a quick fix to rid yourself of Mr. Accessibility:

Settings>Accessibility>Magnification>Off.

Those four steps remove the little corner man from your opening screen until such time as you decide to return him.   It’s a great tool for seniors but for many Android users, the little man is more bother than he’s worth.

Many Android phone users, especially those of Samsung Galaxy S8 and S9, complain that they are seeing an icon showing a small man/person/user with arms stretched. No matter what these users do, this little man icon on Android home screen won’t go away. This icon is visible on the lower bottom on the home screen, and the problem is also reported for Note, Pixel and Nexus users.

This icon is extremely frustrating because it does not go away easily and hampers your day to day usability. But thankfully, we have found a way to get rid of this little man icon in Samsung Galaxy S8 and other Android phones.

Apparently, this little man icon is related to the Accessibility settings in your smartphone. And according to feedback from different users there could be several ways to remove this icon from your home screen. You can try any or all of the below-mentioned methods.

Go to Accessibility settings and head over to the Magnification option. Turn this option off and the little man icon with arms stretched will disappear.

Another way to get rid of the little man icon in Android is by going to Settings – > Accessibility – > Text to Speech and turning this option off.

Go to Settings>Accessibility>Accessibility Menu, and ensure that this option is toggled off.

Make sure that Select to Speak in Accessibility is off.

Head over to the General section in Settings and then go to Motor & Cognition. Turn off Touch Assistant. The little man icon will go away.

If you are still unable to get rid of the little man, person icon in your Android phone, please comment on this post with your device/OS details and we will get back to you with another solution.
